In a small tropical island called Fiji, located 6 hours by plane from Australia, a overfishing problem has come to a stop.
For many years the island experienced overfishing, huge boats came to the area and threw huge nets. The fish that were caught were killed by explosives which not only killed the fish but also damaged the rich ocean floor and the beautiful coral reefs.
Reef Health: A healthy reef has a lot a lot of big fish including reef sharks, and other big fish when a reef has sea life around it will slowly start to regenerate what it once had.
The island people live a life as their ancestors did; no TV’s no video games or other electronics. The locals still play their guitars in flower pattern shirt. One tour group gets weeks of preparation, this is so because the island doesn’t get much tourists often.
Coral reefs not only provides beautiful sea landscapes but also offers homes to many sea creatures like fish of all different sorts. They also provide food to many sea animals and release chemicals that could be used as a cure. Lastly they provide protection to local towns from waves.

  1. I liked you article. It was sometimes hard to understand, but it had funny points (The locals still play their guitars in flower pattern shirt). Your article could've been longer, but you did get you point across why the island needs sea life and corals. Good job.
